This documents version 0.2.1. The support recordtracks platform verification and exact-version publication evidence separately.
Change Unix-style permission bits through the public MoonBit filesystem APIon POSIX hosts. Supports octal modes, -R/--recursive, and -v/--verbose.Numeric modes follow symbolic links named as command-line operands and changetheir targets. Links encountered while walking a real directory with -R areskipped. Recursive traversal through a command-line directory symlink is notimplemented: only that target's own mode is changed.
Closed symbolic assignments such as a=rwx or u=rw,g=r,o= are supported forregular files. They must explicitly assign all of u, g, and o; operandsare checked for this subset before mutation. Incremental +/-, omittedclasses, X/s/t, permission copies, directories and symlinks remain rejectedfor symbolic assignments. Numeric operations process operands in order and donot roll back earlier successful changes on a later error.
--reference is recognized but fails before mutation because async 0.22.4does not expose current permission bits. Windows permission mutation isunavailable in this profile. Host permission denial is reported separatelyfrom these implementation limits.
Standalone --version prints exactly chmod 0.2.1 followed by onenewline. Standalone --help starts with Usage: chmod, lists bothmetadata options, and ends with a newline. Both write to stdout, leave stdinunread, and exit with status 0. Exact-version publication and verificationremain recorded separately in the support record.
